" Dark Night of the Soul II"

I began a series of paintings on paper that explore aggressive marking systems. Contrasting markings of line and color demarcate units that range in color and shape. The angularity of the mark, made by a pin-striping brushes, refers to turmoil. This work I title, "Dark Night of the Soul", and references those moments I have had of deep despair. A number of years ago I underwent Chemotherapy for Hodgkin's. Many times my emotions pull me into what I felt was a deep cavity of fear.
